Turn the World Around (Jinjhoti in Jhaptal)
Harry Belafonte’s song has African roots, and in this arrangement by Don Willis, it merges with North Indian raga and tala, melody and rhythm. Set in the raga (melodic scale) of Jinjhoti and the tala (rhythm cycle) of Jhaptal (ten beats), this is an upbeat and fun composition to sing. The rhythmic section in the middle should be recited with energy!
